lyrics

Evelyn, lately I've been hunting our ghosts.
If I remember it right, it was 1995 and we were just two kids from the coast.
For days, we watched the landscape change, followed the rails from New Orleans to Memphis.
On our own, looking for a new home.
Looking west

I still have pictures of us when we were kids, I knew you then. Where have you been?

In that dark, there was fire in our hearts, burning through our blood and our flesh.
When morning came, there was no note to explain, the reasons you had left.
Through the years, you've reappeared, hiding in my memory.
Oh, Evelyn, lately I've been, hunting our ghosts.

Then you come to me in a dream, I knew you then. Where have you been?

I hear that train whistle blow, I knew you then.
Along the Mississippi blue, I knew you then.
Across the Great Western Plains, I knew you then.
Did you ever see that Pasadena sun? I knew you then, and where have you been?
